Oh... Mayweather coming out to "Born in the USA"

In amongst all those Green Teefs making me feel ashamed to be English by booing anthems, I forgot about this.

Jeff "LOL" Lacy did the same thing when he fought Read, too.

What's funny about this transparent attempt to build up xenophobic ferver is that... Born in the USA ISN'T a patriotic, pro-US song.

If anything that song is anti-American. I can't believe it became as popular as it did when it was first released. Clearly nobody was listening to the lyrics aside from the chorus.

Which, ironically enough, is the typical American music consumer IMO. Give them a solid beat, maybe a catchy guitar riff, throw in some lyrics, top it off with a chorus that makes you listen, and there you go. If the chorus is good, the song usually sells here. Sad but true.

Springsteen is a genius... lyrically he's obviously left wing but the rednecks think he's one of the boys.

Floyd coming out to that might have just as well have said "I'm a daft twat, innit?"

Definitely, Bruce is the boss for a reason. And you're right, despite his left wing stance on many important issues, rednecks seem to look upon him as "one of the boys", because of "Born in the U.S.A." infact. A song in which the only words they know are the name of the title and subsequent chorus.

                  Yeah, a lot of people don't realize it's anti-war, anti-US song.

I mean, maybe in some sort of twisted reasoning, Mayweather used it because he believes he's a victim of the stuff Bruce is singing about...which of course makes no sense.

I actually forgot how to spell it then. Then I figured for 90% of posters it wouldn't matter. Christ my head is ****ed.
