Lots of green teefs talking about Mayweather today...

... I do hate hearing the layman talking about boxing, but it was a big discussion point at work today. It's weird that most of these green teefs haven't even heard of counterpunching or feinting, and that when they've gone past Amir and Audley the only other boxers they know are the likes of Tyson, Bruno and (hello JuyJuy) Chris Eubank. A lot of em haven't even heard of The Blow, that boxer who won sports personality of the year despite having no personality to speak of (sorry Joe).

The simple fact is, these "Joe Public" green teefs had never even heard of Mayweather before last weekend, he was just A.N.Other opponent for this Manc chav semi-ginge that has cross-over appeal to mainstream soccer fans by being "dead 'umble and one o'the lads". I tried explaining to one **** on Friday that "He'll probably get hammered... this Mayweather is no mug" but the ****s don't really take it in. They'd certainly never seen him before, let alone heard of him. I'm talking about "man on the street" green teef, not boxing fan green teef, obviously.

This morning everyone's talking about how slick this Mayweather is. I imagine if they put some of his fights on they might even watch it. Of course, if it was the Baldomir fight they wouldn't watch any more, but there you go.

Floyd Mayweather Jr... the boxer who crossed over into the mainstream consciousness of Green Teefs.

The Benn-Eubank-Watson era was the London taxi driver era - THAT was what it was all about. From 1988 to 1992, every London taxi driver spoke of Benn, Watson, and Eubank all day long.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Everybody was telling me how Hatton was gonna knock Mayweather out (even though they'd never seen Floyd box or even Hatton for that matter) then come today everybodys like "Yeah that Mayweather fella is pretty decent" lol.
