I know that several guys on here have a few differen issues with De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions over a few of their characteristics and methods. However, after the Hatton/Mayweather clash, i'm sure that looking back over the weekend and entire pre-match build up and promotions we can admit that it is nice to finally see the best pro boxers "running the show". Everywhere you looked over the weekend you would see Oscar giving an interview, Bernard giving an opinion, Mosley or Calzaghe hovering somewhere in the background. Not only was it good to promote the fight but I really think these guys are giving a lot back to the sport in terms of ensuring it stays in the limelight and doesn't fade away from public interest like it started to do under the previous generation of promoters. And even though you might think the money is a big factor for them, you can't deny that when Golden Boy put on a show, they REALLY put on a show.
Having so many fighters around that appealed to different fanbases definately helped generate and retain interest in the fight, and to be honest it's good after all these years to finally see the boxers getting the exposure they deserve, getting some credit and giving back to the sport rather than Arum or Don King reaping all the benifits.
