My analysis of the fight (and some people on here)

I wrote this as i posted on a different site. Tell me what you think:

    The fighters

We all know Hatton is the down to earth bloke we love and support. We all knew he has bottle, going to America, stepping up from his natural weight, taking on the ABSOLUTE BEST out there. There is absolutely no shame in him losing, i'm ****ing proud of him, he's done Britain proud just by getting in the same ring with Mayweather. Also - he is a class apart from most other boxers persnality wise... Took the defeat like a man instead of bitching about the *beep* of a referee, still managed to cheer me up in the post fight interview jokingly declaring it a fluke  .

Mayweather - now - he still has about 5 different personalities. We know that in the buildup to fights he acts gangster and plays the villain to boost PPV buys and earn more money. But he also always seems an honest chap when he is interviewed after fights and on his own (without that absolute *beep* of a person, Roger Mayweather in his corner). But don't assume that Mayweather is some sort of angel and he only plays the bad guy role. He still has a massive ****ish side to him. Don't forget that this guy throws dollar notes at cameras, beats his girlfriends and causes near riots (recent 50 cent concert, Mayweather through dollars out to the crowd, causing a stage to partly collapse, almost resulting in tragedy). There is alot of this which has **** all to do with promoting a fight.

He is a wonderful, wonderful boxer and if he beats Miguel Cotto, i would declare him as perhaps the greatest fighter ever. Certainly top 3. He is amazingly gifted, talented and the ultimate athlete. He let Hatton tire himself out, and Mayweather looks fresh as a daisy after most fights, he doesn't bruise or cut. He is a boxing genius who absolutely has it all. I appreciate his skills, but am undecided on his personality, i know he does alot of charity work too, which goes unnoticed, but that man is just hit and miss. I think his father and uncle have ****ed him up and his social life is just in tatters.

    The build up

I think Floyd took Hatton lightly to start with, otherwise he wouldn't have gone on dancing with the stars. But after the press conferences with Hatton taking the piss out of him he started taking it more seriously. I don't think he was scared, but when he saw a mean, 'up for it' Hatton on the 24/7 shows and final presser/weigh in, it fired him up a bit more which gave him that extra edge. I don't think Floyd expected Ricky to go from this laughing and joking 'midget' to a dead seriously 'cold as ice' monster. But it happened the closer the fight came, and i think it helped Floyd came fight night, i believe he had a bit of fear. In previous fights like the Judah and De La Hoya ones, he seemed complacent. In this, he was all business.

    The fight

What can i say. I was shaking like a leaf as the bell rang for the first round, but was clenching my fist as Ricky connected with a few stiff jabs in the first round. Looks like Mayweather was doing his usual thing of trying to figure out the style before stepping the pace up. That said, the referee still didn't help matters from 1:30 in up until the final few rounds of the fight.

My fight prediction was that Hatton would surprise Floyd with his speed, and i believe he did that, and that he would not allow Floyd to win the middle rounds as he was in a rhythm and not slowing down. It didn't work like that, the referee played a small part in disrupting the rhythm, as did the cut. Ricky got frustrated, and as soon as that happened, i knew Ricky wouldn't win. He just got hit by some lightning right hands and they slowed Ricky down. Once he slowed down, he was wide open for Mayweather to go on the offensive. And he knew he could do that, as he didn't have to worry about Hatton's power or size. Mayweather was stronger than Hatton believed him to be - they underestimated the fact that Mayweathers last time out was at 154, and that he had been a 147 fighter for a fair few years. His body adjusted to it.

Floyd shown what he hasn't shown in a long while, offense. Once he went offensive he was dazzling, and too much for Hatton. I'm satisfied with the excitement of the fight, for me it was fascinating, although to be honest, i was expecting it to be a little closer and to go the distance. Ricky just couldn't get in with the bodyshots. If he did go to the body more, i believe he would have just been even more wide open and it would turn into a Gatti style beatdown. That said, Floyd's defence was superb, and the sly forearm pushing of Mayweather is a brilliant way of defending yourself on the inside and then finding space to pick your own shots.

    The future

Mayweather says he is going to retire and become a full time promoter. I don't believe it for a second. On that showing, his body isn't quite worn down yet. But also, there is just too much money to be had for a showdown with Miguel Cotto. Floyd has always said that if it makes money, it makes sense. Not only this, but i believe deep down he doesn't want to secure the best legacy he can before he retires. I think he is smarter than alot of people give him credit for, and he will retire at the right time, but it's not now. Mayweather's knows this, another 'ooh i'm retiring' stunt will add further money for his next fight in the ring. For me, to secure a legacy as the best ever, he needs to fight Cotto, beat him and then try an adventure up to middleweight. I think he can beat a Winky Wright or Jermain Taylor with relative ease. He won't be offensive, he'll be smart and counter punch his way to victory, and who could blame him. There's also the possibility of a De La Hoya rematch. This isn't off the cards, Mayweather only won by a split decision and he's not afraid to give fighters a second chance and prove who the real winner is.

For Ricky, i want him to go back down to 140. Clean up against Malignaggi and Witter and then retire. He will still retire a champion and a legend. Stay clear of De La Hoya at 147, and as much as it pains me to say it... stay clear of Miguel Cotto at 147. Cotto has grown into 147 brilliantly, Hatton clearly hasn't... Cotto would not be bullied by Ricky, and if he catches Hatton with some of his own bodyshots Ricky won't last long. Ricky vs Cotto should have happened years ago, when both were the top 140 fighters. Bob Arum didn't want Ricky then, and Frank Warren didn't want to risk his cash cow either.

I know a showdown with De La Hoya at Wembley will be very appealing to Ricky, but De La Hoya knows he can win this, so he should listen to the advice of Billy Graham. DLH is bigger than Hatton, more powerful and knows that Hatton wouldn't make a dent in him (unless he is severely weight drained... which is a possibility).

Also, Dios and others like him. Please let go of Mayweathers testicles. Comments like 'i told you so' and 'dat white cracka got his ***** azz kncked da *** out' are just childish. We all know Hatton was the underdog, we all saw Floyd raise his game and box superbly. Sometimes this place gets really full of knowledgeless teenagers who just talk absolute ****. Please grow up, write sensibly and construct your arguments properly. I mean, is that the highlight of your day? Come straight onto an internet forum and boast to strangers 'i told you so'?

Also, technical skill, you are a disgrace...

    Thanks for reading, kids
