Lampley is a racist. It is always obvious that he is going for the white fighter. If you watch his after fight interview with Floyd, He wouldn't even look Floyd in the face, but when he interviewed Hatton his demeanor was much different.

look at the way merchant did the interview with floyd, he just looked down everytime he was asking questions to floyd and when floyd was talking back.
