El Nuevo Dia (PR newspaper) has quoted an annonymous source at Top Rank saying that the fight against Vivian Harris is already in the works. If Vivian can get by Urkal in mid-October without injury then the fight would be scheduled for December 11th in New York.
If Harris can't get by Urkal, or he is injured, Gianluca Branco is the back-up plan since he's ranked 13th by the WBO and would be the highest ranked available opponent for December. Reports are that Hatton will not enforce his mandatory possition because he's waiting for the winner of KZ - S. Mithell in November (fat chance, Ricky). Gianluca is the next available top 15 ranked opponent in the WBO. The WBO will grant a 12 month extention (18 month total) for Cotto to fight his mandatory if he fights Harris and wins. They would then consider Cotto the Super Champ and allow him what they consider to be the appropriate time for a Super Champ to defend his title.
I can't wait for the Cotto - Harris fight. It should be a very interesting match-up. If Harris moves around and uses his jab he can give Cotto, and his short reach, some problems. However, as soon as Cotto can get Vivian's style down, I expect him to walk through his jab and start punding the body, which should be there for him all night given Vivian's stance. We'll have to see how it plays out.
