This was a magnificent perforamce in and out of the ring.
First it is safe to say that Hatton lost the mind games before the fight. He himself admitted that the leadup had him gung ho and eager to rush face forward after Mayweather (though it can be argued thats his style anyway).
Second Mayweather prmoter was brilliant. Aided I would expect by HBO (if I was a Brit I'd sue em for misrepresentation) they spent time building the gangsta thug who was sufering from underestimating Hatton and also having fragile hands, so much that they never showed him ever hitting a heavy bag in earnest. Meanwhile they had Hatton trumped up as the good lad with the awesom punching power. Cue Brits and Americans who love 'decent' fighters running to see Mayweathers ribs broken.
Result...more Money for Mayweather (he did co promote this fight after all).
It was great. The ultimate con job. Outsmarted by the thug...and stripped bare.ANd Mayweather even had the audacity to big up Hatton again and express willingness to jump over De La Hoya and feed once more at the tough...this time in the UK.
The other part of this is about Mayweather the fighter.
The adaptation that he showed was incredible. First he pot shotted and held, breaking up Hattons rhythm. The he went low and high and confused Hatton. Then he fought him on the inside and forced Hatton to feel his own body punching power.
Then he unveiled the jab and then with Hatton being egged on by the thought that he could still have a chance of KOing Mayweather, he brutally put the light out.
A brilliant businessman, actor and of course boxer.
