New to the site. The article said the fight was on the table going into the 8th R U Kidding me???? Also classifying this a shock in the title has me wondering what this writer is thinking. I gave Hatton 1 maybe 2 rounds at best and the judges scorecards reflected the same. Clutching, grabbing, wrestling does not win rounds, clean punches do and Mayweather was doing that. I would hope that FMJr. fight Cotto because that would be an EASIER fight, yes I said it. Seriously what advantage does Cotto have on Mayweather Power??? Well just about every fighter in Floyd's division would be classified as having better power. He's not bigger, faster or more skilled. Doesn't have the greatest chin and is not great defensively.

Cotto is a much bigger guy than Hatton with a longer reach. I do think Cotto would be more successful than Hatton in bullying Floyd around. The question is Cotto's stamina. The net affect could be about the same, but Floyd has to take the Cotto fight. Public demand is too great. Criticism of Floyd will rise to a new high if he dodges Cotto. That's an uncomfortable position from which to retire.

Sorry got to disagree, I rate Cotto slightly better than Hatton but with less pressure which is the key to getting to FMjr. He is very hittable, I have seen him hurt in numerous fights check the Corley or Ricardo Torres fight. (Now in Cotto's defense Corley actually hurt FMjr. as well but he was later dismantled by FMjr. Real talk Cotto-Corley was stopped early because Cotto was in PR) Cotto is just the next guy that people HOPE can beat FMjr. Now I will agree Cotto will have to work the body but in terms of body punchers Hatton ranks up with Cotto at the top of the list and you saw what happened to him.

Stop...Cotto is well above Hatton. When we speak about pressure, Cotto too applies pressure but does it with tact. Hatton as many Mexicans on this forum are quick to claim is typically "Mexican" plods forward. Cotto will give yousome of that but knows when and HOW to work the pressure. Cotto is a beast whereas Hatton was merely cute at 147lbs... big difference.

Corley caught Cotto on the TEMPLE... a weight drained Cotto at that.
Torres will hurt ANYBODY smart enough to feel pain.

Cotto at 147lbs has walked through Judah and Mosley bombs. Watch the fight again. THe squeeky voices on this forum will try and sell you on the fact that Cotto was about to die when Judah connected. Watch the tapes....
