Today is finally the day where Floyd Mayweather Jr. will defend his title against Ricky Hatton.
After all the press/media hype; the 24/7 series, all the trash talking we are just a few undercard fights away.
For anyone still about on the forums posting and reading thank you for coming here.
Lets get down to business.
Keys to victory
Floyd Mayweather Jr:
No matter what floyd and company say about brawling and stopping ricky hatton lets be realistic and talk strategys that would favor mayweather best.
For mayweather to win he wants to use his jab to keep ricky hatton at bay.
Hatton is going to make it a brawl and attempt to not allow mayweather to rest or control the pace/punch output of the fight.
Mayweather (in addition to using the jab) wants to circle hatton and keep him chasing...stick him with the jab; let him chase, plant his feet and counter hatton's punches.
Floyd mayweather needs to keep the fight at a distance; fight a classic boxer's fight. counterpunch; use the jab; keep the fight at a slow pace.
Ricky Hatton:
Ricky hatton's best chances to win the fight are to not allow mayweather to control any aspects of the fight.
He's going to want to keep it high paced; punches in bunches, and keep mayweather on his heels without allowing time for rest.
This type of strategy can really wear on both fighters (especially the one pushing the action) so ways to reduce this fatigue is to not directly chase mayweather; instead he should cut off the ring and attempt to pin mayweather to the ropes. to slow mayweather down he should go to the body early; often; and consistantly. this will slow down mayweather and (if done correctly) will cause him to drop his hands; giving him the perfect oppertunity to go upstairs. thats also going to be his best chance to break mayweather's terrific defense.
He needs to keep coming forward and use many many many combinations not allowing mayweather to set his feet by always keeping him stepping back or being on his heels; that way mayweather will not have a chance to hit with as much force or accuracy.
So hatton needs to punch to the body, cut off the ring effectively and out hustle mayweather with punches in bunches.
Whoever executes his strategy best will win this fight.
I dont expect a knockout or knockdown from either fighter but rather a split or majority decision for either fighter...
its a close fight but just because of the odds i put a little money on hatton just incase. i do think in all likelihood (against what i wish) mayweather will win.
however i am pulling for ricky hatton. (and no im not british...if you couldnt tell by my avatar)...
enjoy the fight with me ladies and gentelmen.
