Hatton & Ruiz = not the same definition of clinch
Ruiz clinches with NO promise of action. He closes his arms entirely around the other boxer or embeds himself in his opponent with no intent of breaking it up without the ref. Even the manner of which Ruiz actually selects a punch to joust in with, you wonder whether he had any real intent of landing it at all.
Hatton clinches with the intent of jockeying for better position while smothering & tiring the other guy out, always remembering to punch fairly legally when it is opportune (which is not typically Hatton's MO if you have seen his previous fights).
Just thought I'd get that off my chest.
