Time for my Andy Rooney-ish rant.
In this age of ours, the politically correct era, race is a big issue. Not an issue like it was in the 60's and 70's, but an issue in another way.
Nowadays, the word "Latino" has replaced calling someone by their race, and "African-American" has replaced the term "Black." But White Americans are still just called "White people."
Another thing I have problems with during this time of ultra-sensitivity towards ever other race, why can every race my race jokes except white people? And before you ask why I say white people, it's because I also say black people. Dave Chappelle can make fun of white people for being boring, bad at sports, and whatever else he wants to say. But if a white guy makes a race joke, he's racist.
Now I'm not talking about a Michael Richards type joke, I mean just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill joke. Nowadays you can't say Merry Christmas, in case you offend ***s.
I think it was ****ed up for Bernard to say he'd never let a white boy beat him. Especially for a guy who whines as a B-Hop does about how hard it was for him to get the attention of casual boxing fans, I'm suprised he would risk alienating so many fans when he's not likely to win any more with his fighting style.
That being said, I'm not sure Bernard could beat Calzaghe. I'm a huge Bernard Hopkins fan. I have been since I first saw him at 9 years old when he KO'd Felix Trinidad. But even as one of his biggest fans, I can't condone **** like that.
