Jesus Chavez threw more than 100 punches per round

The question is can Ricky Hatton catch Floyd Mayweather?

This is the fight that proves to me that Cotto would beat Floyd, and it shows why Hatton is going to give him hell, if not beat him.

You mean the fight where Chavez was tagged repeatedly and the only reason he lasted so long was because of his will and a hell of a chin?

Just the success Chavez had inside is all.

It shows that you can get to Floyd and have success inside if you are skilled enough to get there. I dont think people realize the difference between Hatton and these other guys, even Castillo. The angles that he gives inside are unlike anyone Floyd has faught. He gets in and out quick. This isnt Jesus Chavez walking forward with weak jabs and minimal head movement.

I'm just saying, you'll find out Saturday night. It'll be a close fight.

People keep bringing up old Mayweather fights, as if he hasn't improved since then. He was barely above 20 years old for a lot of these fights. 23, 24, 25 in some of them. I guess that's reasonable, though......................

Floyd was a dominating beast at 130. Nowadays, not so much.

That's what I was thinking. Chavez did well for himself, but didn't effect Mayweather or his gameplan at all, and ended up taking all the punishment and getting stopped.

I still think Cotto has a pretty good chance, but the Castillo fight is a much better comparison than the Chavez fight, as Cotto fights a lot more like Castillo than Chavez.

He was in his prime at 130, he has declined since then.

He only threw 100 punches per round for about 2 rounds if I remember. Then it went down to 80, and to 70...and so on.

Hatton is a different animal compared to Chavez. Believe you me.
