And it would be the first time for that to happen since??? Well its been a decade or more since thats happened.

I hope Mayweather loses so Pacquiao-Marquez 2 would get a lot more deserved attention

this is the issue that i have. its ovbious that Marquez is the better boxer, but Pac can knock anyone the **** out, thus defeating them. who really would be the higher rated fighter?

Whitaker and Chavez was the last time two p4p 1 and 2 fighters faced off. 2 and 3 facing off isn't pretty bad as well.

No they wouldn't. Not neccessarily anyway. If Pacquiao wins and looks like **** I say #1 should go to Calzaghe if Mayweather loses.

This would be the second time that The Ring's #1 and #2 squared off (the first was obviously #1 Chavez vs. #2 Whitaker).

It depends on how low they move Mayweather down though.

It might be just me, but I don't think Marquez is all that close to Mayweather, and I wouldn't be shocked if Floyd only goes down to #2, especially if it is a close decision loss.

Theirs no way Calzaghe should be #1 as of right now if he beats Hopkins then thats diffrent.

If Pac wins over Marquez, he definitely becomes #1. (duh)

Mayweather moves down to #2 and Marquez likewise moves down to number #3 or even lower depending on how ****ed up he gets.

Ironically, Hatton keeps implying that he's fighting Floyd for the p4p title, when at most, he'd be bumped up to #3. Thankfully we don't have to worry about that since when he loses, he'll be in the teens somewhere next to Cory Spinks.

If Hatton beats current #3 p4p Tszyu (then) and then beats current #1 p4p Mayweather, how is he not in contention for #1?
