RICKY HATTON has told Floyd Mayweather not to make any excuses in Vegas on Saturday night. Hatton plans to rip the Yank’s WBC world welterweight crown from his head.
But he fears ‘Pretty Boy’ has already given himself a way out by speaking about how bad his hands are.
Hatton, 29, said: “The more I watch of Mayweather, the more it fills me with confidence.
“I like watching his pad work because, although it shows off his hand speed, I think there’s a lot of training in the comfort zone there.
“He’s just hitting the bag and pad very, very lightly — with very little power.
“The trouble has arisen with his hands again — it’s common knowledge he’s got bad hands — but I can only concern myself about my own preparations.
“If you wanted to be a cynic, you’d say if you’d got an injury you’d want to hide the fact — so why is he telling everyone?
“If I win, I’d hate to think he’d say he got beat because he’d got bad hands.”
Mayweather has had hand problems since suffering a break when losing as an amateur to Algeria’s Noureddin Medjihoud back in May 1995.
In fact, his hands caused his only knockdown in a battle with Carlos Hernandez.
