Trust me Oscar vs Chavez will happen.

I'm telling you, it has to happen. It's like all the stars lining up. The timeframe has to be tweaked a little, but this fight makes dollars and sense. Oscar has to brutal wins over an over the hill papa Chavez. Jr is coming on strong, he's huge, a big name in Mexico on name recognition alone. He's looking and fighting more and more like his dad. They just need to make it happen, May or Sep 2009 in LA. Chavez fans and cheers would own the house. Big money, I'm telling you.

Jr needs to fight the likes of Castillo, Cosme Rivera, Bojado, Grady Brewer, Oscar Diaz, David Estrada then graduate to a Cintron or Judah. Cintron is a huge puncher, but he don't give me the warm and fuzzy... Seems unstable.

I mean that's a big, strong kid the old man would be fighting.

The kid's huge, As a Welter, he's like Tito Ortiz in the UFC lightheavyweight division. He only has to drop 3 pounds to make Welter. He's already 6 feet tall and he looks like he hasnt stopped growing yet. He's got a monster size head and can take a good shot. In his prime he'll be a filled out Middlewieght.

Was there ever a fighter who faced--or, beat-- both father and son over the span of his career or careers (i.e., first career-retirement-comeback)?

The answer to that question may just make De La Hoya consider your idea seriously...

From where I sit, Oscar can easily be persuaded to think of firsts and fews (first fighter in history to do something; one of the few fighters to achieve something). Plus, there seems to be good financial prospects for the match if it happens in, say, 09... That last consideration may be the one that appeals most to DLH.
