what's funny is that EM's fans sang a different tune back then. they say Raheem was just a bad matchup and EM was not really a tru 135lber and they had EM favored to repeat against PAC. but after PAC blew away EM, they said he grew old after the first PAC fight. now that **** is funny

Regardless of what happened before or after the first Morales-Pacquiao fight, ANY objective fight fan knows that Morales was the clear winner in their first encounter (no, I'm not Mexican). That fight was competitive, but Morales demonstrated superior boxing ability throughout. As I recall, he was so confident of his superiority in that fight that he went ahead and switched to southpaw in the last round (which he was summarily rocked for). I'm a fan of Pacquiao's (though I tend to root for his opponents), but some of these Pinoy fans are as bad as those Island Tito fans who still think Tito beat up Oscar.

Pacquiao himself proved he isn’t scared of anybody by picking the dangerous l Marquez in the much-awaited rematch at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino on March 15 which will settle an old score last May 8, 2004 when Pacquiao dropped Marquez three times in the first round but hampered by leg cramps and looking for a one-punch knockout couldn’t finish the job allowing Marquez to come back with some tremendous counter-punching to salvage what to some was a controversial draw.
Leg cramps? I've never heard this sorry ass excuse before. That's exactly why you stretch before you fight and obviously no such cramps affected him in the first round, so this is bull****. Hearing **** like this, along with Manny's nonsense in doing anything he can to duck Marquez, I'm definitely pulling for JMM. Manny is gonna get beat up in this fight.

Paquiao beat Morales fair and square but if you want to talk about the weight Issue You have to remember that the Morales team was praticly begging to fight 135 he was happy with 2 or 3 pounds but the Paquiao team was talking about that they didnt want to give Morales the advantage. You can say what ever you want but Roach and the Paquiao team wanted Morales to go in their dehydrated and weak.

Just to refresh your mind. Here are the excuses of Pacquiao "for not knocking out JMM"

                  1. Cheap socks
                  2. leg blisters/cramps
                  3. injured left hand

So next time you won't be surprised coz you have a bad memory.

I personally think that pac was destined to win that 2nd and 3rd fight even if they fought at 135. But i have my doubts as well. In the 2nd fight morales was spent when the sixth round came and in the 3rd fight we all know that he used that bio**** training to obtain the 130 limit.

So can morales beat pac at 135?
at the time of the second fight, i think so.....

Maybe he does that to foreigners who are sports stars, not to all foreigners, buddy.

Anyhow, I don't really have issues with him as a person. I just take exception to some of his views as detailed in some of his pieces. It's my view that because opinion write-ups are also called "think pieces", some degree of thinking must go into the writing.

I visited a Filipino boxing site a couple of days back and was quickly confronted by a debate over a piece by Mr. Nathanielz claiming that the Bautista-Meza and Banal-Soto fights were mismatches, as he based his conclusions on BoxRec, pointing out that the two Mexicans had been fighting tomato cans for most of their careers. From a veteran boxing journalist such as Mr. Nathanielz, a conclusion like that is strange given the type of reserach that augured the conclusions; and, it begs several questions, many of which are not very flatering to Mr. Nathanielsz.

He should know that prospects are almost always given easy outings at the onset of their careers. The quickest glance at BoxRec will also show that Pacquiao had that; Barrera, Marquez and MOrales too. Moreover, he should know that records only give the slighltest hints of how matches turn out, and because of that, utterly unrealiable for taking a stance. A better basis is seeing the previous fights of the fighters concerned. Mr. Nathanielsz clearly did not bother to check whatever video sources that are available to him, be those on the web (e.g., youtube...) or through his personal contacts, of which, I'm sure he has many, given his years spent on the job.

As it eventuated, the two Mexicans did not merely step up then step down; they managed to tuck away a number of rounds (in my eyes and the eyes of those who were with me when we took in the fights on free TV)). Banal and Bautista were not able to impose their will. Meza frquently replied as best he could each time Bautista took it to him and succeeded. Meza even threw more punches than Bautista, although the latter was more accurate. By the 8th round, Bautista was getting fatigued and a tad disappointed. His bombs did not have the result he anticipated. I think, the judges' scores do not represent the actual action that took place, although there is no arguing that Bautista won.

Banal did not have a walk in the park, either. Although he TKO'd Soto late.

In comparison, Donaire-Maldonado was a lot less competitive, and Mr. Nathanielsz did not call that a mismatch.

Fights like all those three cannot possibly be called mismatches. Maldonado was stubborn. And in round 4 he showed Donaire a few things that he can do. The two Mexicans who were in Manila did the same thing in a number of rounds in their respective fights.

I don't know why he knocked the matches of Bautista and Banal just days prior to the event when he had been raving about it in the previous articles he wrote. Some forum members of that site speculated that some issues must have developed between Mr. Nathanielsz and the promoters. I don't know that such is a fair guess. If true, that flies smack on the face of professional ethics. Journalism must not be used for personal ends. To do so would be "hacking". Bad, very bad.

But, like I said, there's so little that I know about Mr. Nathanielsz. Given the things I've been told and have read, I find myself not quite eager to be counted as his acquaintance, forget about becoming his friend.
