No one would question that a fighter is the best if..

He faced the very best and didn't jump divisions without facing the top 3 in that division. Moving up IMO should only be done when you can no longer make weight or have fought or defeated the best in your division. The reason fighters get questioned so much these days is because no one makes the effort or go out of their way to face the best. I would find it hard for someone to question Ali in this day and age regardless of how hated because he did what he had to do to prove who was the best. If you fight a bunch of second and third rate fighters YOU MAY BE THE BEST but you are not showing it and until you do the world will never know. I think this is the reason fighters get so much heat these days honestly.

pretty much but fanboys seem to ignore this kind of logic and get swooned by all the trash talk of their idols.

      .................

Sin city i can agree with you but also disagree.....

Im a big mayweather fan but he hasnt fought the best fighters while moving up.......

But hatton has pretty much stayed at the same weight and he's fought bums his whole career..........

the guy has 40 some odd fights and disregarding whether people think the boxers were washed up or not.... his only 2 wins are tzou and castillo.....

2 big fights in 40 plus fights........

Fgihters can gain weight and than say i cant make weight anymore....even if they can and than escape the division and move up....

They should make it that u at least beat the number 2 and number 1 contender at the weight class and than beat the champion in order for you to move up....

Im not managing Mayweathers carrer ... so i cant help him decide... but staying undefeated helps him stay in that money making circle....

and they guide him along like any other boxer in order to stay around and undefeated in order to make more money....

Im not excited about the hatton fight i think they chose hatton because they know he's a bum and they can beat him easily...

Although im a big fan of mayweather i think he has to beat better competition at this weight in order to secure his legacy......

        FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ARE SEEING THE LIGHT MY VERY GOOD MAN!.

I have been trying to explain this over and over for months and months.

GREATNESS IS MEASURED SOLELY AND NOTHING ELSE.... BY FIGHTING THE BEST. NO EXCUSES.

TRUE SKILL IS MEASURED BY FACING TOP OPPOSITION AND BEATING THEM UP.

A John Doe CAN JUMP A MILLION WEIGHT DIVISIONS while ducking the best and only handpicking the bums and at the end of the day... THAT IS JUST NOT GREATNESS. I don't care if you put on 1 gazillion pounds just to jump divisions but if you haven't fought the best.

YOU ARE NO MORE THAN A BUM.

        MY GOOD MAN!!!

        You are seeing the light.

A little logic and common sense will never make you wrong.

Try following it more often and it will rarely lead you astray.
