Delahoya: 'Undefeated' has already reached 1.4 million buys in the US

Oscar is claiming that this fight has already sold 1.4 mil in US domestic sales. This seemed like an exaggeration to me.

But I was also VERY skeptical that 'The World Awaits' would outsell Tyson's biggest fights....and it FAR exceeded those numbers.

anything involving Mayweather now until he either retires or losses will do BIG numbers, this doesn't surprise me.. the guy was on Dancing With The Stars, MTV Cribs, Jay Leno, Radio Stations, Talk Shows, Award Shows, Rap Videos and even Video Games.. dude is the biggest name in Boxing right now currently fighting, Oscar took a notch down below him at least IMO, that may not be true completely that he's the biggest name but TO ME I say he is because he took on the dude with the biggest name and won, he beat the man so he's now the man and he has enough star quality to uphold the title.. 100

The promoting of that DLH fight was far beyond the rematch of Tyson-Holyfield. I even saw billboards on the highway and cut out pics at liquor stores.

no, its BECAUSE of Oscar he is a name in Boxing right now. I'm willing to bet my SN that Oscar's next fight will do more numbers.

          Yeah. True.

What I did NOT realize previously was that you have about 25% more PPV-enabled homes today than you did a decade ago. I have always had PPV capability, so I did not realize the difference was THAT big.

Tyson did 2 million, and a bunch of homes couldn't even GET pay-per-view.

            More numbers than what?

I'll take your bet as soon as the fight is announced this winter.

everybody seems to say that but Floyd held his own too, people knew about Floyd and he had a buzz too, I think the COMBINED reputations of the 2 ended up skyrocketing the promotion of the fight, Floyd was VERY known in the world, he was regarded pound for pound #1 already, people knew Floyd it's just Oscar's name was out longer, by Oscar losing to Floyd it only solidified Floyd's already known name, since the Gatti fight everybody who fought Floyd made the most money they ever made in their whole career, that has to be acknowledged too, Oscar didn't carry that show by himself yo it was a 2 man effort that made it as big as it was, Oscar has faced MANY guys in the past in BIG fights and didn't do as much on his own than what he did with Floyd, Floyd played his part and people ain't giving proper due, Floyd BEEN a name in Boxing, beating Oscar just made him a bigger one.. 100

                2501,

EVERY fighter (including Oscar) needed a vehicle to leapfrog into the mainstream. Fighters build their names off the previous generation, or a bigger name fighter.

How did Hopkins become so well-known? The Trinidad win.

Oscar didn't come out the gate selling 800K buys. He built up slowly, and thankfully, he had aging guys with big names to beat (Whitaker, Chavez, etc).

That is the way it works.

Getting the gold medal in Barcelona surely must of added to DLH's appeal aswell.

                    DIOS DOMINICANO,

No ****, but Oscar is STILL an active fighter with an active fan base and my point is that Floyd may be getting some shine right now but Oscar is STILL Boxing's Golden Boy. If both of these ****s were to do an autograph signing, you mean to tell me that MORE people would show up to Floyd's than Oscar's? Remember, the average casual boxing fan was not too impressed by Floyd's performance against Oscar in their last fight. This is confirmed by the many interviews where that particular issue was brought up including a recent one posted here. Who watches Dancing With The Stars? Housewives and ****s. Do you hear any Housewives talking about PBF? What about ****s? You come out on Dancing With The Stars so that your name can be put in tabloid magazines and my girls reads every single one out there and the only thing she ever saw was just an update saying he got eliminated like in the 8th page in a small corner of the magazine. Floyd's 4 minute appearance on Jimmy Kimmel really isn't going to do ****. The thing Floyd fans dont understand is that PBF isnt beloved. Oscar's fairy ass was beloved. But Floyd is mostly regarded as "that arrogant boxer guy" by the casual fan. If you want to claim that even negative press is good press for Floyd, than so be it. If you guys are content with Floyd being THE name in Boxing for all the wrong reasons, than more power to you. But untill Oscar dies from fishnet stockings being wrapped around his neck, Floyd will still be #2.
