NEW YORK – Veteran trainer Don Turner believes WBO No. 2 rated middleweight contender “Ireland’s” John Duddy (22-0, 17 KOs) will become his 21st world champion. First, though, Duddy has to get past former European champion and 2-time world title challenger Howard “The Battersea Bomber” Eastman (42-5, 35 KOs) on December 8 in the 10-round main event at King’s Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I look forward to seeing it, I'm hoping Duddy wins impressively so he can open some eyes, a lot of you guys were harsh on Duddy when there was talks about him facing Pavlik, now c'mon man I know Pavlik would have beaten him too but a lot of you guys were bashing the **** out of Duddy like he some chump and that wasn't cool, the guy is undefeated in his own right and he was ready and willing to bite off too much too soon a la Fernando Vargas and David Reid and you guys seemed to make him out like some chump, I'm hoping that with a win over a tough and durable Journeyman like Eastman that Duddy can win over some people on this board because he certainly has me on his support list, I like the guy yo he a cool dude, very humble and always shows respect.. 100 -

Duddy does not impress me. He's an average fighter, with an above average sized fanbase and a fighting style. Bout all there is to the guy. I have nothing personal against the guy, he's just not IT for me.
Andy Lee > John Duddy.. Even at this point in his career.Comment

My parents are Irish and i was born there so I was hyped about the guy, but for starters he is from Derry, he's northern Irish. He should be fighting guys like Macklin,El**** and Lockett and I don't think he'd be the best out of them even. He made a great choice going to America and I think exploit is a harsh word but all these Irish-Americans can't wait to jump on a bandwagon.
I went to New York once, started speaking and some random guy in a bar we'll call it an Irish bar said ' I don't agree what your country did to us'..he thought he was Irish. I laughed.
Andy Lee is the real deal though.Comment
