  • Hatton Inspired by Duran Beating Leonard

Undefeated Ricky Hatton feels inspiration from his idol Roberto Duran, and plans to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the same manner as Duran's upset win over Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980. Many have compared the Dec. 8 battle between Hatton and Mayweather to the first legendary battle between Duran and Leonard. [details]

Wow, no credit to Duran at all for beating an undefeated Leonard, huh? Duran would have KOd him in the first 3 rounds if Leonard didn't hold for dear life and put Duran's gloves in a vice grip.

1 year ago against judah this is exactly what happened. the last 2 fights he didint do it because he was fighting guys bigger than him playing it safe, he did it for a couple rounds against baldomir, particularly in round 4, he just stood there and exchanged, against a guy whos smaller than him like hatton, hell do it, trust me.

I also believe he will spend some time trading with Hatton in this fight, his accuracy and speed will be good and Hatton is small compared to the people he has fought recently!

Nah, they just like to conveniently forget. Leonard was hanging on for dear life early in the first fight, without a third fight the second doesn't outweigh the first AT ALL.

When you get outclassed that badly in the rematch, whats the point? It would have just happened again, and again, and again, and again, come on man, duran was outclassed so bad there was no need for a third fight.
