    Klitschko-Ibragimov Presser!

    Klitschko-Ibragimov Moscow Presser!

    November 27, 2007

Two champions met in the Russian capital to announce the first heavyweight unification of the new millennium. Right from the start, the press conference, which has been held yesterday in Crocus Expo Hall, Moscow, let everybody see the whole meaning of the coming event – for the first time in context of such an incredibly important event it took place in Russia, where the boxing industry is gaining momentum amazingly fast. Not the last role in the process being played by two of the greatest athletes, coming from the post-Soviet space, both holding prestigious belts in boxing’s glamour division – 32-year-old WBO titlist Sultan Ibragimov (22-0-1, 17 KOs) and the IBF king Wladimir Klitschko, 49-3, with 44 KOs, a year his younger.
Both sportsmen seemed to be really glad and proud of the fact that the affair of such a big caliber starts around their compatriots, mass media and press conference guests, who although were a bit quite and shy in sense of asking questions from the start. It was seen on Klitschko’s face, how surprised he was by this reaction of audience in the hall. Having done a long way to Moscow, the champion from Ukraine clearly expected more red-hot atmosphere and even seemed to be a bit upset. But finally, after first usual questions, the march turned out to be smooth and fascinating since there was a great enthusiasm coming from both athletes and their promoters. And the words, which were so expected, had sounded: at the 24th of February 2008, 6 a.m. at Moscow time (which will be late in the evening of the 23rd of Feb. overseas), all Russian admirers of the Sweet Science will witness one of the most fantastic event ever taken place in the history of boxing, since the translation will be provided by one of Russian TV channels.

Why is this fight happening? Is the heavyweight division so bad that Wladimar is forced to fight someone that stands no chance of beating him? If Sultan represents the best of the heavyweights then the heavyweight division has really gone to ****.

Sultan Ibragimov is underrated, he has the handspeed of a middleweight, good footwork and decent power, he is a tough guy and he has a lot of heart. I don't like his new style though, he has become a safety first fighter because he is being trained by a Mayweather. Sultan's only chance of winning is to go back to his old style and try to go for the kill. With all that being said, Sultan has no chance and he will get brutally KO'd by Wlad.

Ibragimov looks like a handyman. He looks like he gets really fat in between fights. Wlad KO2...

ay! my boy got an avatar! Sultan is going down big time, this fight could be the worst heavyweight unification of the decade. When you think heavyweight unification you think two guys of the top of the division going at it and will be great to watch. I'm gonna force myself to watch this.

Unification fights are always good. Who else do you want him to fight? Chagaev? He's already recently backed out of one unification fight.
