From my point of view...

1.) Floyd has alot of injurys and is starting to make excuses. The Dr even stated he shouldnt fight any longer.

I too was very suprised at the stuff they did on his hand during the episode. However it's not an excuse. He let it be known that he is human and has weaknesses like everybody. He is taking care of those weak spots just like Ricky is taking care of his body, going down in weight.
