Frank Warren: "Hopkins or Pavlik For Calzaghe"

According to a recent interview with promoter Frank Warren, the two preferred choices to face undisputed super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe are Bernard Hopkins, who is the recognized champion at light heavyweight, and current middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. IBF light heavyweight champ Clinton Woods is also said to be in the mix. [details]

My prediction, and i hope im wrong, HOPKINS-CALZAGHE never gets made due to some EXTREMELY rediculous reason.

And the order is this: PAVLIK-TAYLOR II and CALZAGHE-WOODS in back to back weeks or something like that. And the the winners meet on HBO PPV

Either would be a damn good fight for Cal, I would understand his quarrel with the long layoff though. Why June? Hopkins isn't getting any younger in his own right.

if he fights Pavlik it should be next. Pavlik is going to get better and stronger, Joe does'nt wanna be fighting after hes fought B Hop

I would rather see Calzaghe vs Pavlik over Calzaghe vs Hopkins. Pavlik is a better fighter than Hopkins right now and he would actually make the fight exciting, Hopkins is a boring dirty fighter.

you know, i might be the only one, but i think Hopkins-Calzaghe could be a pretty darn good fight.

But i agree that Pavlik-Calzaghe is the much more exciting fight and i would rather pay to see that one

Dawson still has to face his mandatory Adrian Diaconu, and if he doesn't fight his mandatory before May 25, his title will be stripped. On top of that he has to set a date to defend his belt against any voluntary opponent (Woods, Johnson, Erdie, Diaconu, etc) before January 25. So it looks like Dawson has his hands full right now and Calzaghe cannot be in the picture.

Taylor will win the rematch so maybe Calz vs Taylor.
