    Power?

Do you guys think that many Boxing fans confuse the whole power battle?

I don't understand why a guy has to KO elite fighters in the first round to be considered a big puncher. Guys who were considered big punchers in the history of boxing didn't KO top 10 fighters just by looking at them in the first round. I think KO power is displayed when clean punches are landed correctly or in the middle of finishing off a fighter.

For example. Miranda is not going to knock out a top SMW with a single punch in the first round. Neither is Pavlik, neither is Lacy, etc. They will hit you hard enough throughout the course of a fight and then finish you as you weaken. They are all big punchers, but that doesn't mean that they will KO an elite fighter. They have to land the hard punches they throw.

I may not be making sense, but I am just referencing those who say a fighter is NOT a big puncher because it took him 5, 7, 11 rounds to finish off an opponent.

Same goes for Pacman... Pacman throws his left to hurt you, but not every punch he throws is a knockout punch. Some fighters like Jeff Lacy and Sam Peter have great power, but they are not exactly the best at landing them the correct way.

David Tua is an example of a power puncher who CAN land his punches the correct way.

Do this, go hit a punching bag. You can hit a punching bag with a punch that is not hard, but it still makes an impactful sound because of the way you land, the angle of your glove, if your palm is open, etc. Then hit that same big with a tight fist even harder. Sometimes that impact may not sound as hard, but the punch is harder. I think we sometimes see that in the ring as well. A fighter lands a clean punch that SOUNDS or looks hard and heavy, but really it may be a soft punch that just so happened to make a heavy sound.

    Now I am just babbling...

I think what I am trying to say is that I don't believe EVERY punch a fighter throws is meant to be a knockout punch. Even if they are a big puncher. Like Wlad vs Peter, we now know Peter can be hurt but took some hard shots from Wlad. Steward said that Wlad had worked on pulling his right hand in order for it to land quicker instead of more powerful. Winky Wright can probably hurt more opponents, but he puts more focus on quick release than power.
