Before facing Trinidad, the most exciting fighter to watch, was "El Feroz", Fernando Vargas. That boy always came to fight, no question about that. although his career was some what short, Vargas will be inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame. Not as an all time great, but as the YOUNGEST boxer to ever win and hold a major championship. Mike Tyson was the youngest Heavy Weight in History, at age 20, but Vargas was 2 or 3 months younger than Tyson when he won the 154 title, also at age 20, making Vargas the youngest in History.

Vargas rode himself like a race horse, he lived fast, and evidently died young. The dude was self centered to a rediculous extent, and like the guy said..he was no different then Mayweather that way.

Granted Vargas only went 90mph when fighting, but it would have been beneficial if he woulda fought smarter. If he was able to reserve his emotions and wasn't so obsessed with himself, he would still be fightin today.

Whatever bull**** he was on, completely drained him mentally, and the Roids may have fueld that emotional rage, but attempting to fight without that intense boost after suspension probably put his body into shock and probably made him unable to capture that same intensity. I was never really a fan, but I respected his fight game..and thats just the fate of a fool. Hope these younger Vargas' types don't take it soo far.

I never really liked Vargas, but I respect for some of the battles that he was in and he gave a good performance last night, even though he didn't look in good shape. Im happy he's done though it was obvious last night that he doesn't have anything left and he looked like a 29 yr old going on 50.

Vargas has a huge heart, but I have never liked him. His disrespect for the sport and others has always irritated me. Escpecially that "fake mexican " garbage he threw at oscar. One of my favorite fights was watching DLH destroy him.

In the end, he could never back up his obnoxious talk.

He was hurt a few times, he hurt Mayorga a few times but gave a good fight, always gave a good fight whenever he fought. And he accomplished a lot. Glad to see him retire.

Your hyping Vargas as if he's a class act or something. Vargas is nothing more than a loudmouth disrespectful unprofessional fat ass who couldn't even beat Oscar after being on the same roids that scumbag Bonds was on. He always has that machismo attitude like his **** don't stink and thinks his actions symbolises what a "real Mexican" should be like. He even went so far as to question Oscar's nationality when (a) Oscar is from East LA not Oxnard (b) Oscar speaks Spanish and Vargas doesn't. So I don't know what Fatnando was talking about.
