Id say Vargas was more of a legitimate fighter and champion than Gatti, he just got rushed and paid the consequences. I mean he beat Javier Castillejo in what was sort of a tune up for him, and then Javier Castillejo goes on to win a middle weight championship. Vargas can always say he fought the best of the generation, and still has a win over an elite fighter (winky) which Gatti cant say.

Vargas needs to realize that he will never be able to compete at an elite level. He needs to walk away while he can still walk and chew bubble gum!
