What was cooler... the visual you got onscreen when Ray Charles was singing "America The Beautiful" in the ring, with Sugar Ray Leonard loosening up in the background, before the Duran rematch OR the sight of Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti instinctively hugging each other in the center of the ring BEFORE their thirtieth (the tenth round of their third fight) and final round against each other?

why are you even comparing a media-created moment with a beatiful spontaneous moments between two fighters with a heart the size of a muntain?

My pick is obviously Gatti-Ward. Although the first moment includes much better fighters/artists.

Knowing that Ray Leonard was named after Ray Charles and imagining how important that moment must have been for him, i think i'd pick that.

Two fighters becoming friends or gain respect for eachother after a hard fought fight happpens pretty often and can happen on any given day but with Leonard/Charles it can never be matched because I don't think it would have the same feeling with any other singer or any other fighter.

I think the best of all though was when Ali and Frazier hugged during an NBA game.

Gatti/Ward III hands down, to embrace like that after the most brutal 30 rounds ever was definately a sight to see. People can say what they want about Gatti and Ward, but I consider them the two toughest warriors of our era.

Yeah but by that time everyone knew they were friends anyway so you kind of knew something like that would happen.

You can see two fighters have 3 great fights and hug and become friend any day of the week but you will never see Ray Leonard and Ray Charles Robinson together again and even if Charles was alive you would never see them together in that type of moment .
