    Miranda vs Pascal heating up

    Pascal-Miranda heats up

After being at ringside in Florida and calling out Edison Miranda at his most recent fight; it looks like Pantera is ready to return the favour for Jean Pascal’s December 7th fight in Montreal . Miranda will be a keen ringside observer as the war of words heats up between the two in what looks to be an eventual 2008 matchup.

“He claims that I laughed when I challenged him, said Pascal via press release. “I did so because I was thinking that if he is not afraid to fight me, then following our match-up fans will stop calling him ‘The Panther’, and will begin to call him ‘The Kitten’.

“I went to Hollywood , Florida prior to traveling to Puerto Rico to attend the WBO convention. Having learned that Edison Miranda was boxing, and knowing that he is in my weight division, I naturally was curious to see him fight. He is a good boxer, and he fought well that night. But he is certainly not good enough to beat me.”

“He is crazy to want to fight me,” said Miranda after their original encounter. “If this fight ever happens, I’ll wipe that grin off his face with one right hand.”

“I know one thing for certain about Miranda: he is not a true champion. He lied about my having followed him to Puerto Rico, and when I challenged him his only reply was that he would let his fists do the talking in the ring, whereas a real champion would have replied much differently. As proof of how much he fears me, before I left Puerto Rico , he gave me a Pantera shirt as a gift in order to soften me up prior to our eventual match-up.”

I wish Miranda all the luck in his pursuit for a championship b/c he's such an exciting fighter to watch. As for Pascal, hopefully they can get this fight made sometime early in 2008....

On a related topic, do you think there's a chance we'll see a rematch between Miranda and Abraham next year?...

First Miranda vs Pascal (if it happens) would be early June in Montreal.
As far as the Abraham rematch, since Miranda is now at 168lbs and Abraham is afraid to leave his crib (Germany) I dont think we will see that happen anytime soon. Abraham will just have to live with the fact that he got his ass beat for now. Maybe someday Edison will finish the job.

Why would the fight be all the way in June? Is Miranda planning on fighting before then?

They are both fighting on Jan 11th ESPN FNF as a double header.
So their June fight will be 5 months later.

They are waiting until June because that is the Grand Prix weekend in Montreal and it will draw a huge crowd to the fight.

That's a pretty good card for FNF; will Pantera and Pascal( P & P) be fighting decent opponents or handpicked tomato cans?...
