    Ruslan Chagaev is a Southpaw...

    So what????

this seems to be the reason people are picking him to At least give Wlad a challenge.. some say THIS is the reason he will beat Wlad..

This is pretty silly... Ruslan is 6'1'' and has a 71'' wingspan.. He is NOT a KO artist.. and Is just sligtly above average in skills..

Sanders is 6'4'' has a 77'' wingspan.. and punched like a Mule.. and also had decpetive speed..
Wlad is 6'6'' and has an 81'' wingspan..

Chagaev will just be more cannon fodder for Wlad..

I have spent the last 30 mins looking at Clips of the guy...

and You guys are all kidding yourself..
He has Nothing... NOTHING.. to suggest he will beat Wlad .. His best wins are against Valuev and Ruiz...

****ing hell stop the presses.. ALI is reborn...

Tell me why You think this Guy can Pull off.. I am really curious..

He's got skills, which is not something you see much of nowdays. So naturally, when people see a gleams of hope that somebody could at least produce a competitive fight with Wlad, the hype will start immediately.

When he fought Virchis, he got a gift decision and everybody knew it, so I would watch Virchis very closely, if he defeats Gomez in his next fight, he could very well become a champ soon.

Sorry Welt, Chagaev is very skilled. He's the best counterpuncher in the HW division. He can't easily be hit with jabs and straight rights. Wlad would likely beat him, but Chagaev could make the most interesting fight out there at the moment, because he has the head movement and counterpunching skills to make Wlad work for it.

Chagaev could be the best fighter, apart from Sanders, Wlad ever fights. I'd pick him to beat Sam Peter, to knock out Sultan Ibragimov, and to outbox Povetkin

Just clicked yuor link and I see you're looking at the Valuev fight. I thought Chagaev did the right thing in that fight, but it's no indication of his style. Valuev is a different animal and needs to be fought differently. There's no way in hell to hurt him, so you stay away and land some single shots. Valuev hardly landed a jab in the entire fight though, and I think Ruslan could avoid Wlad's jab or neutralize by firing lefts down the center or to the body.

I disagree, Chagaev can punch too. If it means anything, Calloway said that Chagaev hit the hardest out of anyone he'd faced before.

He's quick and powerful inside. He also uses his jab very well to get inside, along with good head movement. He wont just walk straight ahead like a Brewster would.

He's got the skill and timing, Welter. He's not going to stand on the outside with Wlad, who can't be beaten from the outside. Ruslan will slip jabs down the middle, Wlad doesn't use his right anymore with someone coming in, and Ruslan will land straight lefts and uppercuts to the body or lefts overtop.

I think Chagaev will be ahead on the cards when Wlad knocks him out.

That would be something.. Considering Wlad has lost about 3 rounds his whole career he wasn't knocked down in...

I believe You when you say you believe in Chagaev.. except I have watched enough clips..

If you are right.. then let's hope this fight comes off..
It will be nice to worry again watching Wlad.. right now it just feels to predicatable..

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Chagaev can beat Wlad. I know Wlad is capable of making adjustments. I just want to see a fight in which he is forced to do so. In the last five or six fights he absolutely had his way from the start to brutal end. If Chagaev can make him earn it, it will feel better as a fan.
