Cotto's defence is very underated heres why

I've been watching Mosley Cotto in slowmotion and so far this is what I've found.

    Cotto only looks open.

He has a very solid defence and isn't as open as you think.

The reason for this is that he holds his fists on his cheeks but leaves his elbows wide exposing his chin to the camera. The thing is he keeps his chin tucked in very well and the only way to really hurt Cotto while he's doing this is with an uppercut or if you clock cotto while Cotto is coming in. Normally people would think that Cotto is really open when coming in but he isn't, he only looks like he's open because of his really wide body but his hands are actually right where they are supposed to be

Why couldnt Mosley clock miguel properly with hooks while Cotto was coming in?

Because Cotto ducks hooks and straights when coming in, but this is normally overlooked because Cotto does'nt actually duck, he squatts which is just about as effective as ducking but Cotto once again looks open while ducking because his chin is open to the camera

Its also very hard to land combos on him aswell because he hits you while you're hitting him, when cotto hits you he sort of knocks you off balance in a way keeping you off rhythm during your combos when you try to stand toe to toe with him. Heck even just his jab snaps your head back. Which means that his offense is also his defense. People over look this factor alot because this factor is so subtle but very very effective.

The only problem I can really see with Cottos defence is that his chin is exposed to uppercuts and his body is left a little open.

Oscar De La Hoya recently said that He would be looking for uppercuts and body shots if ever he fough Cotto.

Come of think of it, Judahs most effective punch against Cotto was the uppercut.

Other than that Cottos defense to the face is actually very solid and tight
