Southpaws that would have been Half the fighter had they been Orthadox

Southpaws that would have been Half the fighter had they been Orthadox ?

Pernell Whitaker would still have been great had he been orthadox but not as illusive IMO

Calzaghe would'nt still be unbeaten IMO but still a top fighter

Tarver would'nt have gotten anywere near RJJ

Hagler would'nt have been as good as an orthadox fighter but he would still have been a great middleweight he was tough as old boots after all said and done

Michael Moorer would have been knocked out at heavyweight much sooner if he had been orthadox

Interesting thread! I like the idea of this. I'll go out on a limb and say Winky Wright. He would still have great defense but I think people could have broken through more had he not been a south paw.

hagler fought very well orthodox as well as southpaw.

it's a little unfair to say these guys wouldn't be as great if they were right-handed. Talent is talent and skill is skill. Surely fighters as great as Whitaker could've been able to do what was necessary to win and be great if they were orthodox.

what makes you think they'd be less great if they were right handed?

so instead of training since age 8 or whatever as a left-handed fighter, they learn how to fight orthodox.

chances are if you're as good as someone like whitaker, it wouldn't have mattered.

and roy had a whole history of fighting left handers. tarver was the only guy after harding who troubled roy. tarver obviously would not have ko'd roy with a straight left if he was righty, but maybe a straight right instead.

Don't forget that he is actually right handed... his jab is a lot better than it would be had he fought orthodox.

Manny Pacquaio. Sure he'd rush foward, but he'd be losing his strongest weapon pretty much.
