Antonio Tarver Verbally Blasts Bernard Hopkins

During a recent conference call with the media, Antonio Tarver held nothing back as he blasted his light heavyweight rival, Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins dominated Tarver last June in a fight billed as Hopkins' last before an expected retirement. The retirement was short lived as Hopkins returned in July to decision Winky Wright. According to Tarver, no matter what he does of who he beats, Hopkins will never step up and grant him a rematch. [details]

I think I can speak for every level headed boxing fan on the planet when I say "HAHAHAHAHA, what an idiot!!!"

He claims that if he was to fight Hopkins it would be to erase the only L on his record. I'm pretty sure he has more than one L.

He tries to claim his IBO belt has more credibility than the Ring Magazine title. I'm not going to even touch that one, other than to say that Hopkins got the Ring title by kicking his ass.

Then he says Hopkins is afraid of him. Well, that one I actually won't even touch.

What he is saying is he lost to Eric Harding, came back and KO'd him, lost to Roy Jones Jr, came back and KOd him, lost to Glen Johnson, came back and beat him. Hopkins is the only guy he ever lost to that he never came back to beat. But, the scores were pretty lopsided, and probably not enough money in the rematch, so it won't happen.

              Johnson won the rematch IMO.

I mean he's a good fighter and all, but his whole career is based off of one perfectly timed overhand left. Without that he's just another guy.

I see it like this, Tarver or anyone who laces the gloves up will say whatever he can to make himself relevant, also Bernard bit his own tounge when after the fight he said tarver is the only guy he would give a rematch to, in his Light Heavyweight position a fight with Tarver would make sense, he can earn another title to add to his reign and he would complete his word after the 1st fight, it seems he demands way too much to fight Joe, maybe Bernard can just face Tarver, then maybe Kelly Pavlik or the Jones Jr-Trinidad winner if the Joe fight falls apart but either way a fight with Tarver makes sense..

if Oscar De La Hoya can say that he is lining up for Cotto after Cotto defeated the man in his 1st effort VERY convincingly that Oscar IN HIS PRIME couldn't beat 2 times then I can DEFINITELY see how Tarver can stake a claim for a rematch with B-Hop, if not because he just thinks he deserves it but because Bernard already opened his mouth and should back his **** up, Tarver CAN call Hopkins out on his words, he wouldnt be wrong. 100
