Does Brain Damage alter your Personality

Does Brain Damage alter your Personality & rational thinking etc is this why so many fighters cant let go when it is clear that it is time to call it a day

u do have to question the rationalisation of people like Holyfield & RJJ & the only solution i can come u with is that fighting over such along period of time has altered their personalitys

it seems strange for someone like RJJ is in denial when he more than anybody knows how cruel the sport can be [Gerald McClellan ]

When boxing is all you've ever known, and you can still make money at it, it's tough to quit.

This is very true. Even the greatest fighters of all time didn't know when to quit. Seldom does a fighter retire when they actually should. I didn't think DLH would fight after 30, now he'll end up fight at 35.

dont get me wrong i understand that but i mean to any rational person on the evidence of what we have seen form RJJ & Holy its hardly likely that they are gonna advance their reputation quite the oposite probably hinder it

& its not like they need the money

i hear u but i dare say DLH decision to fight on past his 30+ is money motivated that guy is so money driven its untrue i think he is to sensible to risk his health though dont u

of course it's going 2 be hard 2 quit.

this doesn't take a lot of intelligence 2 figure out.

say you've been doing something since the age of 8 or so. at one point you're the best in the world at it and make tens of millions of dollars.

then all of a sudden in your late 30s, someone says "you're not that good anymore, don't do this anymore".

of course it's gonna be hard to stop!

and for all the **** about it being dangerous, of course it's dangerous!! anyone who steps into the ring and fights knows it's a damn dangerous sport.

They are just too proud to quit. When you do something all of your life, it's sometimes hard to just get up and quit. Even when it involves getting punched in the face.

You cant say it's money when it comes to Roy and Holyfield. I think Jones still has enough gas left in the tank to beat a titlist though, Holyfield doesnt.

some people just love boxing to much, because thats the definition of who they are, they just live, breathe, eat boxing all day. and suddenly being unable to be competitive is tough for people and just want to continue and prove they can still fight and be competitive. damn it must be really tough.

YES, the physical effects of boxing effect psychological and intellectual abilities. This of course includes personality.

these guys have fought their whole lives.. they love it so much, and it's so hard to quit something that u love.. honestly, think of something that u love, do u wanna give up on it? of course not.. these guys love boxing, it's all they know.. when u r successful at it, it's hard to think that u're not the best.. it's sad, but many ppl go on WAY too long, it's the way the sport goes
