Floyds game is counterpunching he would time that jab and get body work done early therefore slowing Hatton even further and frusterating Hatton into a fit.
I don't know why so many of you are dismissive of Hatton's boxing ability. I'm not saying he's on the level of a Mayweather, De La Hoya or Mosley, but if you watched the first 6 rounds against Juan Urango you would see that Hatton has a solid boxing background. He has a good jab, great footwork, and solid head movement, therefore he is a solid boxer.
Just because he's not able to do the things Mayweather does doesn't mean he can't box.
I was just talking to Kaynan about this and we both agreed, Floyd doesn't have a jab. Well, he has one he just doesn't use it much aside from using it to setp up his other shots, or as a pitty-patty scoring punch. Mayweather is the same type of fighter as Zab Judah and Shane Mosley, they all don't throw the jab the way they should. They rely on it to set up other punches and scoring only.
Mayweather found himself in trouble in certain rounds against De La Hoya because he wasn't jabbing as he should, therefore he was getting backed up against the ropes and looking bad. It's not entirely unlikely for Hatton do do the same to Floyd for a few rounds either.
Also, we both agreed that Mayweather's biggest chance of being hurt comes not from a bodyshot from Hatton, but by a punch straight down the middle. Mayweather uses his athletic ability to deflect and evade punches from the outside, he has no real defense for punches straight down the pipe. Zab Judah proved this when he knocked Mayweather down in their fight with a straight shot, and Oscar De La Hoya did so as well when he had Mayweather on the ropes and used the straight right.
I'm open to debate about this, but counter effectively. None of that childish bull**** about Mayweather being unable to be caught by any punch from Hatton, anything is possible in this fight.
that would prove okay to some degree unless floyd starts to counter over it with his right hand or even a hook which he does amazingly. hatton has no chance of outboxing floyd, that's nonsense. taking nothing from ricky, he can box decently, but against floyd he will have to brawl and do it unorthodoxly, because ricky really doesn't have a chance at beating floyd, it is not going to happen unless he knocks floyd out, which he will not do. floyd will dominate hatton come may 8th, i haven't been wrong yet on a mayweather fight, and i won't be come the 8th of december, i promise you all that.
oh yeah, and before i forget, floyd mayweather may just have one of boxing's best jabs, but he doesn't utilize it as much as he used to. hatton better not jab too much, because floyd could knock hatton down with a stiff jab to hatton's body. floyd's jab is so well timed and accurate when he throws it.

I'm not talking trying to outbox Floyd, I'm talking working behind the jab to set up straight shots down the pipe when not going to the body.
Floyd has a way better Jab than Hatton's, and Floyd has a few inches on Hatton in the reach department. If Hatton tries to get in a jabbing contest with Floyd, he would lose......... very, very, very badly.
The only problem with that is that Floyd doesn't jab. He only throws the jab only to bait you so that he can counter, or to score with pillow punches. He fights just like Mosley and Judah, meaning he keeps his jabbing hand way below his waist and "flicks" it when he wants to set something up.
Hatton doesnt need to learn how to box. He has a very respectable amatuer pedigree and can box with the best of them, including PBF. He wont outbox him but he wont get embarrassed.
if hatton tried to outbox floyd, yes, he would get embarassed, badly.

his jab to the body is very authoritative.
the biggest problem i see with floyd is that you really dont know what hes gonna do, seriously, the guy gives you about 3 or 4 different looks, he does different things to throw you off.
