DAVID HAYE could get a world heavyweight title shot sooner than he thinks.
The new WBC and WBA cruiserweight champion is planning to relinquish his belts and work up the heavyweight rankings.
But WBA official Renzo Bagnoriol revealed Haye can be fast-tracked after lifting the cruiser crowns by stopping Frenchman Jean-Marc Mormeck in seven rounds in Paris.
Bagnoriol said: “Because Haye is a champion of ours in the cruiserweight division, if he steps up to heavy he would get preferential treatment for a world-title shot. It can be done as it is certainly within our rules.”
Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Chagaev is the WBA heavyweight champ. Haye, 27, said: “I’ll fight anyone, it doesn’t matter who.
Disarray
The heavyweight scene is in a bit of disarray at the moment so it’s time to clean it up.
"With most of the champions coming from the east, I don’t mind going big game hunting in Russia. That sounds like fun to me.”
The Londoner halted Mormeck with a savage seventh-round salvo but was taking a major risk.
Haye had to lose more than TWO STONE to make the 200lb limit and put his body through punishment he has no desire to repeat.
That rules out a fight with WBO champion Enzo Maccarinelli. Haye said: “That was definitely my last fight at cruiserweight. You can’t understand what I had to push my body through.
“I’ve not had a proper meal for 17 weeks and only just made the weight. I’ll need a couple of months to recover.”
