How did you score Cotto vs Mosley?

Now this is watching it live and only one time so far. I thought Cotto was getting the benifit of the doubt for the later rounds for landing a couple of good shots the last 20-30 seconds of the round. While Shane had out together solid rounds but didn't dominate them the last few seconds of each rounds.I'm going to watch it again pretty soon. I'll do a round by round. When I watched the last four rounds again the other night, I found that Cotto did much better than I thought watching it live, so we'll see how that turns out.
It depends how you score Cotto's boxing. I thought he was boxing effectively. It seems like people are penalizing him for switching his style up. If you're still using better ring generalship and landing the clear punches then you're winning the round. I've seen the 11th twice, I'm positive Cotto won that round, and I know that's one of the debated rounds.
Watching it live, I seriously would have been pissed if Mosley got the nod because Cotto was the better man. If he lost the fight, he lost it for thinking he was ahead and moving the final rounds.
I wouldn't say Cotto was trying to steal rounds but it just happened he did his best at the end of those later rounds.Comment

I thought Cotto won in quite a close fight. If I used my imagination, I maybe could score it 115-113 for Mosley, but personally I had it 115-113 Cotto.
Cotto was fast! He didnt look half that fast in the Zab Judah fight! I thought his jab would be a factor, but didnt think he would be able to stick it out there so quick, thats what really won him the fight.
I have no problem with him changing his style up, but I thought there was actually something wrong with him...cause that style he was fighting in was semi-effective, but I thought he lost most the rounds he fought like that...should have stuck to his old style.
btw that fight was close as could possibly be. I remember the punchstat numbers after the 11th, they both had landed 236 punches. now, I dont give a **** about punchstat numbers when judging a fight...theyre a little inaccurate and dont tell how the fight played out...but still pretty amazing to see!Last edited by Steak; 11-12-2007, 12:55 PM.Comment

Yeah at the end it showed Mosley landed more power shots than Cotto.I thought Cotto won in quite a close fight. If I used my imagination, I maybe could score it 115-113 for Mosley, but personally I had it 115-113 Cotto.

Good post Left & I agree with you. Round 11 was a prime example of your point. I thought Mosley put in enough work in the first 2-2:30 in the round to win it.Now this is watching it live and only one time so far. I thought Cotto was getting the benifit of the doubt for the later rounds for landing a couple of good shots the last 20-30 seconds of the round. See I feel like people aren't accustomed to seeing Cotto fight the way he did over the last few rounds of the fight, therefore the line of thinking was that Mosley was controlling Cotto. Now this is watching it live and only one time so far. I thought Cotto was getting the benifit of the doubt for the later rounds for landing a couple of good shots the last 20-30 seconds of the round. While Shane had out together solid rounds but didn't dominate them the last few seconds of each rounds.

If you throw that out the window, as I don't think it was a case of Cotto being weary of Shane, you have to look at who landed the more effective, cleaner punches. Shane had moments where he'd land good shots, but almost everything Cotto was hitting Mosley with was crisp and on point. I feel like Cotto was getting the better of the exchanges in many instances.
This is me watching the fight just one time as well.Comment
