I don't know if Cotto can beat Mayweather. I don't know if Mayweather can beat Cotto.
I will feel cheated (as usual) if I am not give the opportunity to find out.
Mayweather needs to fight Cotto and Williams (assuming no losses) as the dominant welters if he wants to claim to be top dog.
A stylish victory over both after Hatton will go a long long way to restoring my early appreciation of PBF. All are tough fights for Floyd. All are risks. All (including Hatton) are very creditable moves by Floyd.

Floyd has the edge here, but with Cotto showing he can fight smart like he did against Mosely, it changes the dynamic and he could probably steal one under the right conditions. I'd fear the judges scorecards not favoring Floyd if it was honest to god close.

That's a really good question and a question I think a lot of people will want to see answered. I think Floyd would win a close UD.

can Floyd run for 12 rounds against Cotto which is what he will try to do imo, but cotto will catch him at some stage ( same with Hatton) then we will see how good floyd is if he wins then he really can claim to be the v-best, good times a head

I'm not a huge fan of either fighter, but I have a hard time seeing Cotto beating Floyd. Apart the ridiculous advantages Floyd has as an athlete in terms of quickness and coordination, and as a boxer in terms of everything but punching power and aggression, he's also well nigh impossible to hurt to the body. I don't think Cotto hits harder than ODLH and Oscar put some solid whacks on Floyd's body which didn't have any impact. Floyd would run and gun like he did against Baldomir and win a comfortable decision.

That said, it's a fight I'd like to see and if Floyd doesn't make it happen it tarnishes his record.

Cotto COULD beat Floyd. He has speed can punch and can box he is truly a Class A fighter. However, when Shaned box it seemed to give Cotto fits and Floyd is the epitemy of a slick elusive boxer. It would be a great fight to watch.
