I accidentally bought 14oz gloves thinking they were heavy bag gloves.

Question is is it ok to hit the heavy bag with regular 14oz boxing gloves as opposed to specific heavy bag gloves. Does it make a real big difference? ANy info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think heavy bag gloves are less padded, so I wouldn't imagine it would be a problem. I use 12oz heavy bag gloves and it's plenty of padding...

I guess what I'm asking is is there a difference between 14oz boxing gloves and 14oz heavy bag gloves. Aren't the regular gloves heavier and if so, isn't that a good thing to build up endurance and power? Thanks for answering since no one even posts in the training section.

It doesn't matter the size of the gloves or if they're regular or heavy bag gloves (i.e. the type of glove)?

My understanding is that heavy bag gloves have thinner padding and are designed only to protect the hands. Straight up boxing gloves have a thicker, foamier padding to blunt some of the damage to the target as well. Should be able to use the normal gloves just fine, but they may feel a bit less responsive.

Makes sense. I'll stick with the gloves I bought. Thanks for the info man.
