I think it was a good solid fight. Nothing like the fights Lamp was trying to compare it to but it was solid. It wasnt what I expected in terms of excitment but it wasnt horrible either.
I personaly thought Shane looked old tonight. I know some will say that Cotto had some to do with that but he was looking old even early. His reflexes were very bad as he seemed strange. Its like he didnt even try to get out of the way of the punches or block them. Early on he would miss a shot and then just stand right there instead of putting his hands up or moving back. Ofcourse Cotto would instantly crush him with a punch.
Still though, I dont take that away from Cotto. He was very impressive, atleast for the first 8 rounds or so. You could tell instantly that he had the power and stregnth over Shane but he really impressed me with his boxing skill. He hit Shane with punches from all angles, he reached Shane when I didnt think he could, and he killed Shane everytime he went to southpaw. His arms arent the longest but he has a great jab. For about 8 rounds I thought he was a killer. He didnt really fade after that but he didnt finish strong either which makes me question him.
Mosley also was typical Shane to me and thats why I have always said that he was overrated in alot of things people say about him. He's not overrated as being a good fighter because he is that but he's highly overrated when people call him a complete fighter and a smart fighter. I have always argued with people about that. Shane is so one demensional. People make it sound like he's a boxer but he's not. He just throws flurries. Even moreso his Defense has always been horrible but people call him a complete figher. The biggest thing that has always made me mad is his smarts in the ring. People try to make him sound like he's ring savy but he's not and thats why I said Floyd would always beat him. Ive always said that Floyd changes stratgies and fights differently from fight to fight and even in mid fight. Shane fights the same exact way in every fight and if he's losing he does nothing different. If you watch all the fights he loses, he fights the same way in the 12th as he did in the 1st even though its clearly not working. He never makes adjusments. If something's not working then he's in trouble.
Cotto was a terminator again though and he has clearly graduated to being an elite fighter. He will give anyone hell in the division. The only guy I see that maybe kills him is Cintron but thats just a style thing. I just think that Cintron's power could catch him but thats a big maybe. As for Floyd, I think Cotto gives him alot of trouble but Floyd wins. I pretty much think that about everyone in the division against Floyd but its really only a size thing. All these guys can give Floyd hell because there physically just so much bigger & stronger then him. P4P I think he's on a much different level then those guys but they will all give him hell strictly because of the size. If all those guys fight eachother then its no big deal because there all big and the size is not a factor. Thats why Cotto has no problem with fighting a guy like Margarito but all those guys are like twice as big as Floyd and no one aknowledges that. They act like it has no influence on the fight. Thats the only reason why Floyd might lose. He's just not big enough to really be in the ring with those guys and should never be but he's so talented that he can get away with it. I think he wins all of them but has trouble with the size and probally gets ripped in the media for the way he wins if he did, even though he's in his 4th weight class and moved up unaturally against guys who are really Jr. MW's
