Good point. I'm wondering if maybe people expected more from 'Casa throughout his career, and when he failed to live up to it (aside from the battles with Corrales and the Freitas fight) people punished him for it. He was never an elite fighter like a Mayweather or a Calzaghe, but he was certainly light years ahead of lesser skilled, more popular guys like Gatti, Carr, Baldomir, or Judah.

Agreed-- he beat the best that was out there (at least once), and was never really a whimp or a runner. It's weird that people don't like him or really care for him these days. I tend to think that history will really just erase him completely.

I think it was a case of the judges wanting to set up a big fight between 'Casa and Diaz. Simply no other reasoning behind it at all.
