Does boxing need America

Wondered on what people think of this subject. Over the past say 80 years America has been the home of boxing, it's where all the money has been made and it's been said to make it as a world great boxer u have to make it in America.
But is this now the case? They struggle to sell out over there, how many great american boxers are there now and how many are exciting? Theres even stroies that more people are interesting in ufc than boxing. Americas best boxer has said hes only interested in the money.
Yet in Britain the sport is on the increase, arenas are being sold out every weekend. The mexiacans and the pinnoys produce far more exciting boxers than the americans.
Is boxing dying in the USA?

What? Cotto-Mosley just sold out, and Mayweather-De La Hoya just broke PPV records. some death of boxing...

but I dont think you need to come to America to make it big in boxing. BUT, if you travel the world for big fights, you will get a ton of respect. so I think fighters ought to fight here sometimes, but I dont think they necessarily HAVE to. more than anything, I think its up to the fighters to make the big fights, and if they will get big by(on a world class scale) coming to America, they ought to. but if they can become popular around the world fighting elsewhere, then fight there! its just that often fighters get world-wide recongnitition when they come to America, so sometimes its neccesary to fight here to get popularity.

What country are you living in? Not only is boxing dying in America, it might as well be dead. I'm not saying things won't change sometime in the future, but as of right now boxing isn't even on most American's radar. It sucks but it's the truth. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The only thing that will save boxing here is to get big matches on CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. I don't care how many awesome fights are being made right now, as long as they are hidden away on HBO, Showtime, and PPV, they may as well not even exist to the average sports fan.

I dont know what Country YOU'RE in,but I saw the Amateur World Championships on FOX last week,on a Sunday.Prime times for a Sunday also. Its not dead its coming back to life it seems.

where do YOU live? of course boxing isnt primetime like it was in the past but it is FAR from dead. 2007 has seen an incredible resurrection of the sport with record PPV sales and event sell outs. not only that, champions are fighting champions and 2007 has been Boxing's year in regards to fighting sports.

I agree that this has been a great year for boxing. All I'm saying is that outside of the boxing world, it's hardly made a splash in the United States. If you want boxing to grow in the states, you should be concerned with getting new fans. Currently, I don't see boxing gaining many new fans.
