Chinese boxers took bronze at the World Championships at both HW and Super HW. People may be talking about this again after the olympics, just wait.

granted yao ming is super tall he probobly couldnt fight his way out of a paper bag. about 95% of basketball players are *******. This should of been figured out by Highschool when you watched your team play and saw fouls because one man "slapped" another mans hand.

I enquired about the Chinese amateur HWs in another forum and got some more info on them:

ive been trying to find information on these two, mostly Zhang Zhilei, for a long time. I haven't found one shred of information on them other than results. I have found only one picture of each, its hard to see either of their faces though. Looking through the results its evident that Nijiati is a young fighter who just now has come into China number 1 Heavyweight. Zhilei seems to have been China's number 1 for a while, and has shown marked improvement over the years.

                Some Past results..
                Yushun Nijiati
2005 Junior Asian Bronze Medal (L-Ahror Muralimov 39-23)

                Zhang Zhilei
                2003 World Championship (L-Grzegorz Kiełsa 22:8 )
                2005 World Championship Top 8 (1-1 W-Vugar Alekperov 20:11, L-Olandier Solis 17:7)
2007 Asian Games Silver Medal (L-Rustam Saidov 14:3)
They're both tall and pretty ponderous. Zhang especially is massive, easily the biggest fighter I saw (people laughed and gasped when he would come out) but very slow in kind of a Hulk smash way. He knocked out the Australian with a wide, cuffing right hand, but I figured he would lose to Glazkov. Glazkov is pretty decent, nothing special, but has much better skills and faster hands.

Yushan did well, but his competition was not that tough. He beat fighters from Australia, New Zealand, Jordan, and Hungary - and only barely beat the Jordanian.

This is thought to be another pick of zhang zhilei, with Sulaiman (****ing giant).

Why couldnt the next great heavyweight be Chinese? That would be awesome to see someone new. Hell, Id just be happy if we could have more then one good heavyweight at a time. We got Wlad right now, and not much else. Boxing needs the heavyweight division to be great, and it is ass right now.

Boxing is not the chinese main interest but if they wanted to become good at it and the government gave it importance then China would do well, like they do well at most sports they put there mind to, whether it is swimming or athletics. The 110metre world record holder is chinese.
Good coaches would have to go out to china and teach them at grass roots though.

Asian takeover! There are billions of citizens in China I think aet least a few could become some good boxers, in the higher weight classes I am not so sure.
