In regards to a possible match up with Hopkins, Calzaghe said: "I'll beat Hopkins anywhere. I'll knock the guy out - if he has the courage to fight me that is."

"Madison Square Garden is the Mecca of boxing so if he wants me to fight him there I would be more than happy to do so. Every sportsman wants to take on the challenges that they only expect to find at the peak of their profession and I am no different."

if calzaghe says he will knock hopkins out then he won't box hopkins. he will unleash his flurries and has a chance to tko. i am a big calz fan and don't think he will ko hopkins. then again i think hopkins work rate is too little to stop joe from going for the ko. joe will find that hitting hopkins is hard as him getting hit.

atleast it confirms he does want the hopkins fight.

hey joe can ko people. he just didn't for some reason throw that many powerful hits. then again i htink his dad told him to box because he was boxing kessler's head off.

agaisnt hopkins a dirty fight would result in his dad telling him to throw his flurries i feel. joe has soem fast combo's for a smw/ maybe lhw too. he does hold back on the chance his hand will break, but then again this is a big fight and **** your hand. go for it i say

calzaghe doesnt throw flurries against good boxers because there wide slaps and there easily countered. thats why calzaghe had to box against kessler because kessler exposed those punches. and hopkins will do the same

Joe doesnt knock anyone out anymore because he's frightened of breaking his hand ala Robin Reid. The quality of fighters he is facing these days is simply too good to manage to get through with a broken hand anymore, even the likes of Jeff Lacy are too dangerous to do so.

He might find that he generates more power without needing to put so much into the punches at the higher weight class. Who knows?

Either way, he, nor Floyd Mayweather are hardly likely to say 'I'm going to outbox Hopkins to a unanimous points decision', so I dont blame either of them for lying. What I do dislike is when they say that they are going to fight a certain way and then dont (like Hopkins claiming his fights are going to be exciting or Mayweather claiming he's going to go toe-to-toe). Even against Kessler, a fighter who seemed to be getting the better of Calzaghe in the toe-to-toe battles. Calzaghe kept going there, kept standing in front of his man all night long. So he will at least be TRYING to do what he says he will do. Whether or not the power is there to accomplish it, I do not know.
