Floyd is becoming mainstream. If he's still undefeated he'll get the mega fights.

floyd has his own style. he has fought in his style for his whole career, became disgustingly rich, and has remained undefeated. something tells me he will not stand toe to toe with hatton.

that is like saying hatton will stay on the outside and try to outbox mayweather.

Hell no he doesn't. A lot of fighters want him because of his P4P #1 status. Cotto will want him even if he does produce the world's most boring fight with Hatton. Winner of Williams-Cintron would still fancy a match with Floyd I would think.

People are chasing his position in the sport, so it is up to them to make themselves marketable to get a fight with him, not the other way around.

Problem is Floyd wouldn't be able to make the kind of money he wants to fight Cintron (though I have Williams winning that one.) Mosley there would be if he beats Cotto, Williams possibly if/when he beats Cintron. If Mayweather fights and beats Mosley and Williams, I'll give him a lot more respect.

As long as he wins, he can keep talking **** (technically) and people will still pay to see him get his ass kicked. Toe to toe would be nice, but not smart, perhaps. Though, I see him dominating, in a certain sense.

Well, despite the idolization by some boxing junkies, Floyd is not mainstream if you consider that everybody in the world knew who Ali was, knew who Dempsey was, knew who Joe Louis was, knew who Ray Leonard was, knew who Mike Tyson was, etc.... I can go to the office and mention Mayweather and nobody knows who the hell he is.

Will beating Hatton get him there? I doubt it.
Will beating Cotto get him there? I doubt it.
Will beating Mosely get him there? I doubt it.

This is not Mayweather's problem, the problem is what's wrong with boxing. Too many belts at the lower weight divisions. Too many divisions at the lower weight classes.

Even if Hatton pulls off the upset, will his fame increase to the American masses? I doubt it. (From what I understand, he's a household name in Britain, but that's a relatively small market.)

Right... I'm just saying that he isn't going to lose his current status if he doesn't start being super exciting. Right now, he is being chased by everyone at 147, because he has The Ring belt and P4P #1 ranking. Most of the guys will want fights with Floyd just because he is considered the best in the division.

Yeah, I don't think it is in Mayweather's power to make himself a household name, but he can stay on top of boxing, just by doing what he has been doing.

IF he continue to win...yes...obviously. The movers and shakers in boxing are dead set on keeping him on top until somebody beats him, no doubt.
