    My argument for Mosley

Mosley is a fast handed power puncher who can catch you coming in at any moment, he has great agility and footwork. He has one punch K.O. (if not Knock Down) power.

he has moved back to a weight class that he is more comfortable fighting in since he beat De La Hoya (beat him twice) and had two fights with Winky Wright (one was close).

Cotto has leaky defense (just a bit) and is open when he punches.

He beat Zab because Zab melted down after two low blows and because Cotto had the perfect style for Judah. If you pressure Judah he becomes a punching bag.

Cotto has great power in his punches but is moving up a weight class to fight. His punches wont be as effective.

He pressures his opponents to the point that he takes them out of their comfort zones. But will it be enought to beat Shane Mosley assuming Mosley doesnt catch him coming in?

When I analise this fight I think that

Mosley has the advantage in speed, power and defense

Cottos only advantage over Mosley (assuming it does'nt backfire) is style. We don't even know if that is going to be enough.

When I think about the fight i can see this scenario playing out.

Cotto: comes in to attack and leaves himself open
Mosley: Does a Zab Judah and catches Cotto coming in.

Cotto gets wobbly and Mosley comes in for the kill and knocks Cotto Down

Cotto survives the round after some clinches and good defense (maybe even a low blow).

Cotto backs Mosley up in the next round and starts pummeling Mosley against the ropes.

Mosley catches Cotto open again and the same scenario plays out (knock down for Shane).

Cotto makes an adjustment to stop Mosley from catching him coming in and continues to pressure Shane.

If Mosley responds by trading punches with Cotto, Shane will have the advantage because Cotto can be open when he throws and Mosley is a master at taking advantage of openings. That combined with Mosleys power and the fact that Cotto can just be so open is a perfect formula for a Knock Down for Mosley.

Cotto might be able to back Mosley up but I just cant see that scenario playing out because Mosley has stood toe to toe with bigger guys (Winky and Oscar) and stood his ground.

Standing your ground is key against Cotto.

So my case for Mosley winning the fight is that Mosley will have many opportunities to get to Cottos chin and capitalize on that during the fight.

It will only take Mosley a few punches to score a KO because Mosley does have the punching power to do so at this weight class. Maybe he'd need to Knock Cotto down a few times first.

Mosley will be flashier with his Combos when he stands toe to toe against Cotto.

The only thing that Cotto fans are betting on is that Cotto can push Shane out of his comfort zone with pressure and volumes of punches which to me is something you can't bet on when you're fighting Shane ( A guy who has stood toe to toe in the ring with bigger fighters).

I can count on Cotto trying to do that but I dont know if he can pull it off against Shane.

Can Cotto break Shane down? Yes he can but can Cotto break Shane down if Shane stands up to him and starts taking advantage of Cottos openings? I dont think he can.

I think alot of what you say is based on the following assumption.

That shane mosleys reflexes havent eroded with time and that they will be enough to carry him through the fight.

I personally think cotto will carry more power at 147, as apparently he had to drain serverley to make 140 pounds, particulary during his last few fights at that weight.

Cotto doesn't just have a **** defense; he has a shaky chin, clumsy legs, very little head movement, and a collapsable center of gravity. He's just begging to get knocked off balance and spun around with arcing shots he won't see. Cotto stays within a very small target area once he starts getting hit. He rolls out like a school bus.

Mosley will be teeing off on this kid's head.

Part of me wants Cotto to win convincingly, just so a lot of the boxing "experts" on this site will look ****** and have to explain themselves.

But seriously, you make good points, like most of the other dudes picking Mosley. We will see though. I think Cotto is quite capable. Shane isn't some monster puncher, but yea, he can outbox Cotto. It's that Shane can be convinced into a fight easier than a lot of guys. Cotto is not the guy to fight with. We'll see on Saturday.

          This is Mosleys last fight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd1Ji_WQOD4 (this is part 2 of six)

His reflexes are'nt what they used to be but they're still pretty fast for a 36 year old.

          I see your point though

Is that because you're jealous of others or just petty?
