Had to laugh at this part, as I thought the same thing when reading the note on the b-talk news brief.
Calzaghe is a Welshman not a brit. Wales is part of England by default as it is a principality ruled by the eldest son of the English monarch.

The English monarch is also the Scottish monarch and British monarch but the Welsh ruler was always the Prince of Wales, heir to the English throne.

A couple of posts that I read even corrected another poster who said, Cal "threw 1,006 punches", by saying, "landed, not thrown."
The original poster said it was 1007. I posted the correct number of 1006. 1006 landed, not thrown. I have the british broadcast of the fight and they point it out at the end.

"Noone gave Lacy a round. He was hit by an astonishing 1006 punches"

Just same, 1,000 thrown is still incredible. Especially so for a SuperMiddle.

This alongside the Lacy fight has me holding my breath as to what (urban legend) stats will come out in his next fight.

Sidebar: You seem familiar, Mr. David. It seems to me that this is a new handle for a member I have had enlightening conversations here on BS last year...?
My wise friend Grayfist, you occasionally read a certain column of mine that comes out on Mondays.

            That's still not correct. Sorry.

Not taking anything away from Joe but Lacy was overhyphed.

                      From CompuBox:

Overall, Calzaghe was 351 of 952 (37 percent) while Lacy was 116 of 444 (26 percent) but the per-round averages were even more startling as Calzaghe was 29 of 79 and Lacy a paltry 10 of 37, far below the super middleweight average of 17 of 55.
