How many fights does Calzaghe have left?

So, Joe Calzaghe has finally broke into mainstream boxing stardom with his huge ‘super fight’ win last Sunday but unfortunately for boxing fans, he’s getting up there in age and possibly nearing retirement. Question is, how many fights does he have left in him and how many more fights will he fight before he ‘hangs up the gloves?’ And to a lesser extent, are there even enough feasible opponents for him to fight?...

He's 35 and still throws a ton of punches every round. Still got quick handspeed. He's a very good fighter, hope he fights at least 4-5 more times. Maby fight Hopkins or Pavlik next.

Well Calzaghe himself has said he no longer wants to fight at SMW as there is nothing more for him to achieve. As for light heavy opponents there is RJJ, B-Hop and on a big domestic front he could fight Clinton Woods. I doubt Calzaghe would fight Woods, all he wants now is recognition and Woods isnt a big enough name to get him the respect he craves. That leaves an over the hill RJJ or an over the hill B-Hop. B-Hop says he will fight him early 2008 in Yankee Stadium, and that is the fight that Calzaghe wants. As for RJJ, I cant see Calzaghe bothering with him. If he loses, his dream is crushed, if he wins, all he did was beat an over the hill drugs cheat. He says he only wants to fight as a pro for another year, so realistically, that gives him 2, maybe 3 fights left in the tank. As for opponents, you're right, he'd struggle to find 3 big names who are legitimate world class opposition.

Wow, I didnt realise it was possible to be wrong on this many levels at the same time, looks like you should start watching some boxing, not just reading who wins in the news.

He just outworked a Solid World class 28 year old.
He has suffered little damage in his career as well.
His biggest enemy is his brittle hands.
THey are the key to how much longer he can go on.
I'd say he is good for at least 4 more big fights.
However I reckon he will settle for 2 Big payday's and call it quits.
It all depends how much he can earn for his retirement fund.
Bearing in mind his Divorce a few years ago cost him a lot.

I'd say 3 or so depending on who they are against and of course if he wins or not.

The fight I want to see right now is Pavlik-Calzaghe, however Pavlik is still developing into a good fighter and Calzaghe is in a class by himself...

I think 2 more defo hopkins and someone else any suggestions? and if someone comes through as a prime challenger maybe a cpl more, i doubt he'd go back down to smw from light heavy though.

That would be worth a PPV card, I would love to see that fight.
