    Mayweather defending title against Augustus

How on earth was Floyd able to defend his Superfeatherweight title against Emanuel Augustus, when Augustus had lost 4 of his last 6?

Another example of another ignorant Mayweather hater.

    Get your facts straight.

Mayweather didn't defend his title, it was not a championship fight. It also took place at 135, while Mayweather was the 130lb champ, coming off of a 10 month layoff.

non-title bout, but in actuality, i wouldn't put it past the wbc to rank a guy #1 even if they had the same track record in recent fights as Augustus/Burton.

Look at Chavez when he was the mandatory for Tszyu.

if only burton was a popular mexican in good with jose suliaman.

While the scenario was obviously silly and bogus.....Mayweather himself admits it was one of the toughest fights of his career.Augustus is a good fighter when he isn't clowning too much and unprepared. He is wild as hell and takes many fights on very short notice.....In fact I'd like to read up on that strange character.Either way he is probably the best fighter you'll ever come across or watch that has nearly 30 losses......modern day of course.

i think he was just trying to stay active before his showdown with Corrales.

But Augustus game him a HELL of a fight, it was a WAR, and Augustus is one of the best fighters to ever have a record like the one he has.

The same way that Ricky Hatton defended his title against Freddie Pendleton, who had TWENTY FIVE losses at the time.
