In those Middle rounds, his hit rate was really good. 40%-50%, but he just stopped throwing. If he just let his hands go more in those rounds I really think he could have won. Just thinking out loud. Hope it wasn't fixed....
Only If Kessler Let is Hands Go

I agree with that, actually.
But it definitely wasnt fixed... -
he didint let his hands go because he wasnt confident in what he was doing, he was hitting joe with his best shots and they didint see to have much effect and its frustrating when you see that, at that point youre also using up energy, kesslers confidence just wasnt there at that point.Comment

He was also eating a ****load of punches. His % was good because he's fast and accurate, but he had someone landing 30 + punches in some rounds on him.
I think Kessler pushed himself to the limit. He could have done some things differently. But it's not like he was tentative or anything.Comment

I hear what ur saying, but sometimes a good defense is a relentless offense. Since his ratio was high, no matter if he hit him or not, Calzagy wouldn't have been being able to throw so many flurries. I guess I'm just disspointed, in knowing that Kessler had the oppurtunity to win.Comment

he was throwing less because he was picking his shots and throwing powerful precise punches....much better than throwing pitter patter IMO...it wouldve worked if joe didnt have such a good chin...and if those bombs didnt kepp him off, i doubt pitter patter would have...Comment

yea i'm not saying pitty patter thou, there were couple rounds were Kessler was just sitting there, and not event counter punching Calzagy's shots. Like F&*K just throw somethings hard, use that jab more, more upppercuts to catch him coming in. I felt like Kessler was a dead duck for a couple rounds, do you not agree.Comment

you have to understand something about Joe Calzaghe, when he is in front of you and hitting you from awkward angles and on top of that when you have felt his power, when you been rocked by a shot you didn't see already by him you tend to fight more cautiously. it's not that Mikkel didn't let his hands go but when you fighting someone like Joe it's hard to hit and not get hit, however getting hit from Joe can mean lights out. Mikkel did what he had to do, it was clear that if Joe would have caught him clean it would have been light's out, even Harold Letterman said Mikkel was rocked in the end of one of those rounds, by him being hurt from a shot it makes him more cautious for the next shot.. truth be told he could have let it all out but he would have opened himself up to shots that he already knew he couldn't take, he was doing everything right it's just when you are picking and choosing your shots against someone who is VERY hard to hit it wont allow for you to throw much, thats why you picking and choosing them, Joe was firing from too many odd angles for Mikkel to handle, he threw when he could and just saw that whatever plan a, b, c or d was it wasn't going to work.. all due respect to Mikkel but even HE can admit he was out hustled.. 100Comment
