all im saying is for certain American Fight fans to criticise Calzghe for staying at home is ludicrous what debatable decisions has he had what Favourable decisions has he had ,matter of fact how many British fighters have gotten favourable decisions in this country that were outragous

its obvious that the Judging in America is much more corrupt and there have been plenty of high profile fighters who have benefited form this in recent memory ,it is just audacious to accuse Joe of Being a coward for not stepping out of Britian the only advantage he gets is support u cant say that about Dela Hoya V Sterm ,Holfeild v Lewis etc

Bingo. Roy Jones fighting Tarver in Florida is not the same as Joe Calzaghe fighting Kessler in Wales. There is a huge advantage there for Calzaghe. European countries are much smaller and less diverse, making it a much bigger deal when you are a foreigner coming to fight one of them.

HBO Has calzaghe a well ahead by the halfway stage the British commentators had Calzghe by 1/2 rounds by the midway stage

lets face it America is where u are more likley to get robbed and their is hard evidence to suggest so ,dont compare the rest of europe with Britain either cause our judges are nothing like the biased judges in Germany etc

ROFL @ anti-american posters. Like poster earlier, Hometown goes from state to state in America.

I want someone to tell me that Williams (American) fhad the crowd and hometown advantage crowd in LA Staple center vs Margarito (Mexican).

I want one of those Anti-American posters to point out how Zab (American) in his home city had an advantage over Cotto.

You'll also be **** out of luck if you think the crowd wouldn't be HIGHLY pro Gatti in Atlantic City regardless of whoever he faced.

Change the state and change the crowd favorite.

We are not talking commentators, we are talking judges, refs, as well as home-field advantage from the fans.

And no, the 'hard evidence' does not support your claims. Diversity in America is much higher, and that helps a lot. You don't see Mickey Vanns reffing the same guy over and over. Nor do you see much of a fighter past 20 fights fighting in his home area.

A U.S. fighter staying in the U.S. is not as big of a deal as Joe staying in Wales or Michalczweski staying in Germany. Not even close. The bad decisions that have happened (Chavez over Whitaker, Oquendo over Byrd) had nothing to do with hometown advantages. There is corruption here obviously, but the nature of it is different.

Hatton got plenty a fair shake vs Collazo. But even if he hadn't, you couldn't say much about it because Vegas is an INTERNATIONAL fight city, hardly any boxer's 'hometown'.

Also people tend to forget that Calzaghe has fought away from home in Denmark and Germany.

even when our fighters do go to your country, they still have the ****ing croud advantage, if calzaghe fought in the states, 20 thousand screaming welsh men would follow .. look at hattons fights, it was a mancunian invasion when he fought castillo

more than 75% of americans dont even hold passports. They dont even realise there is a world outside of their own in many cases, so actually leaving America to FIGHT is something most of them cant contemplate. **** me, Hopkins probably hasnt even heard of Wales (despite it being in existence for 700 years longer than the USA) and probably believes that Welsh people eat raw human flesh. Come over here and we might try Hopkins.
